Abstract: |
Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of children with 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection, so as to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods: Retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data of three children (2 males, 1 female) with 2019-nCoV infection in Chongqing University Three Gorges Hospital from Feb. 1st to Feb. 11th, 2020. The basic information, epidemiological data, history of present illness and auxiliary examination were summarized, the treatment process and outcome were analyzed. Results: Three children were respectively 7 months, 2 years and 5 months, and 5 years and 2 months. The infection route was intra-family transmission. The clinical symptoms were relatively mild, respiratory symptoms were the main clinical manifestations, and one child was asymptomatic. There was no significant reduction in white blood cells and lymphocytes in laboratory examination, the levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) were within the normal range, and the chest radiographic changes were minor. The original clinical symptoms were improved after treatment in isolation, and no other clinical symptoms were observed. Conclusion: Intra-family transmission is the main infection route in children, and the clinical symptoms of children with 2019-nCoV infection are milder than those of adults, or even with asymptomatic infection. |
