| Abstract: |
| Objective: To probe into the expression level of serum pentraxin-3 (PTX-3) in neonatal respiratory distress syndrome
(NRDS) and its correlation with the severity and prognosis of the disease. Methods: Totally 160 children with NRDS who met the
inclusion criteria in our hospital were retrospectively extracted to be divided into the survival group and death group according to the
prognosis. The critical degree of patients was evaluated by the Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology with Perinatal Extension-Ⅱ
(SNAPPE-Ⅱ). The levels of PTX-3, interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and IL-1β were detected by enzymelinked
immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors influencing the mortality of children
with NRDS. Results: The serum levels of PTX-3, TNF-α, IL-6 and SNAPPE-Ⅱ in the death group were higher than those in the
survival group (P<0. 05). The area under the curve (AUC) of serum PTX-3 level, SNAPPE-Ⅱ and the combination predicting death
in children with NRDS was 0. 846, 0. 830 and 0. 902, respectively. PTX-3 and SNAPPE-Ⅱ were associated with mortality in children
with NRDS (P < 0. 05). Conclusion: PTX-3 is related to the severity and prognosis of NRDS, and may potentially serve as an
assessment indicator of NRDS. |
