| Abstract: |
| Objective: To explore a case of minocycline-induced dental discoloration, and to provide relevant warnings and references
for the use of minocycline in children at home and abroad. Methods: A case of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (macrolideresistant)
infection in a child was treated with minocycline capsules, and the characteristics of adverse drug reactions were analyzed.
Based on relevant literature, the dosage and treatment duration, discoloration characteristics, occurrence mechanism and prevention
measures were discussed. Results: Based on a dual-correlation analysis, dental discoloration of the child was highly induced by
minocycline capsules. Conclusion: It has been confirmed that tetracycline in children can cause discoloration of teeth during the
developmental stage, but the risks associated with minocycline have not yet received adequate attention. Although the use of minocycline
in children >8 years does not constitute off-label use, its safety and potential risks should be thoroughly evaluated, and appropriate
pharmaceutical monitoring should be implemented. |
