| Abstract: |
| Objective: To explore the pharmaceutical care model of doxycycline for macrolide-resistant Mycoplasma pneumoniae
pneumonia (MRMPP) in children under 8 years old, and to evaluate its efficacy and safety. Methods: A single-arm, prospective
observational study was conducted. A total of 46 children under 8 years old with MRMPP who received doxycycline were enrolled.
Off-label use registration and approval were completed, and comprehensive pharmaceutical care provided by clinical pharmacists was
established, including dose standardization, pharmaceutical monitoring, medication education, and prescription review. The efficacy,
adverse drug reactions, and compliance were analyzed. Results: After switching to doxycycline, 97. 8% (44/ 45, 95% CI 88. 4% to 99. 9%) of the children were cured or improved. Three children (6. 5%, 95% CI 1. 6% to 18. 4%) experienced adverse drug reactions
related to doxycycline, mainly manifesting as gastrointestinal symptoms and rash. The satisfaction rate with medication education was
100. 0% (46/ 46, 95% CI 92. 3% to 100. 0%), compliance was 97. 8% (45/ 46, 95% CI 88. 4% to 99. 9%), and the appropriate rate
of off-label prescription review was 100. 0% (46/ 46, 95% CI 92. 3% to 100. 0%). Conclusion: Under structured pharmaceutical
management and full-course pharmaceutical care, doxycycline demonstrates favorable efficacy and acceptable safety in the treatment of
MRMPP in children under 8 years. The established pharmaceutical care model provides a practical framework for managing off-label
drug use in pediatric populations. |
