Abstract: |
Objective: To study the serum levels of vitamin D in children with pneumonia and the relationship between vitamin D and pneumonia. Methods: Eighty-eight hospitalized children with pneumonia were selected. The serum levels of vitamin D were tested. Their hospitalized data and the frequency of respiratory tract infections among one year were selected. The serum levels of vitamin D between different genders, ages and disease degrees were compared. The levels of vitamin D between recurrent respiratory infection (RRI) group and non-RRI group were compared. Results: The serum levels of vitamin D between different genders and ages were with no statistical differences (P>0.05), the serum levels of vitamin D in children with pneumonia were lower than the average serum levels of vitamin D in the western China. Serum levels of vitamin D in intensive group were lower than normal group (P<0.05). Serum levels of vitamin D in RRI group were lower than non-RRI group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The serum levels of vitamin D in children with pneumonia have nothing to do with gender and age. The serum levels of vitamin D in children with pneumonia are lower, and related to the disease degree and the risk of reinfection after disease. The vitamin D levels are lower, it is easier for the development of intensive pneumonia, and the risk of reinfection after disease is higher. |
