Abstract:
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of pidotimod on preventing recurrent respiratory infections of the children with cerebral palsy. Methods: The 72 children with cerebral palsy and recurrent respiratory infections were randomly divided into observtion group and control group. There are 37 children in observtion group and 35 children in control group. Everyone of the two groups was given rehabilitation treatment, at the same time, the children in observtion group were taken pidotimod, 400 mg/times, one times everyday for 60 days. Observe clinical symptoms, the level of serum immune globulin IgA, IgG, IgM, as well as the possible adverse effect. Results: After treatment, the amount of IgA, IgG except for IgM increased obviously in observtion group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In comparison of the control group, the number of respiratory tract infection, the days of fever, antibiotic therapy and the days of cough in observtion group were significantly decreased, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The incidence of adverse reactions between the two group was not statistically significant (P> 0.05). Conclusion: The effect of pidotimod on preventing recurrent respiratory infections of the children with cerebral palsy is good and safe.
